What to expect at a Dog Life Drawing workshop

Upon arrival, you'll be greeted by one of our friendly tutors, Liah or Alix, who will guide you through the session. They'll show you where to find all the drawing materials – we've got plenty to choose from to suit your style.

Once you've picked your spot, take a moment to say hello to our four-legged models before the session begins. Your tutor will introduce the dogs properly and provide guidance to help you get started.

The class includes a series of short, timed sketches using playful techniques, followed by quick demos on structure and form. Towards the end, you'll have time for a relaxed, free-draw session as the dogs settle in for their well-deserved rest.

We don't usually have a set break, as the dogs are at their calmest towards the end, but you're welcome to grab a drink or take a short pause whenever you need.

To finish, you'll have the chance to meet the dogs up close and share your beautiful artwork with them (and us!).

Meet Liah – Founder of Dog Life Drawing

Dog Life Drawing was founded by Liah in late 2018 in Sheffield, inspired by a magical image of Disney illustrators sketching a live deer in the studio for the film Bambi. With a wealth of experience running creative workshops in the community and a lifelong love of dogs, Liah created Dog Life Drawing as a space where people can relax, create, and connect – all while capturing the charm of our four-legged friends on paper. Her goal? To make art fun, accessible, and a little bit wiggly – just like our models!

Our Dog Models

Our stars of the show are, of course, the dogs!

We carefully select our dog models to ensure they're comfortable, happy, and safe in a lively environment. They may wiggle, stretch, or strike an unexpected pose – but that's all part of the fun and creativity of life drawing!

Variety is Key: We bring dogs of all shapes, sizes, and breeds to keep each session fresh and inspiring.

Multiple Models: Depending on the venue, you'll meet 2–3 dogs per class.

Small Class Sizes: With a maximum of 30 participants, we make sure the experience is calm, enjoyable, and stress-free for both artists and pups.
